Reflection: 2nd week

On the second week, we have been introduced with a few interesting things that can be used in teaching. Firstly, Pn. Foziah introduced the 5 models that we are going to complete in this course. The five models are:internet & computing skills, photo, audio and video editing and software for esl skills.

I realized how shallow my level is in the technology as I never use those skills before. Before this, I just know how to edit pictures by using ‘Photoscape’ .

Next Pn. Foziah touch upon the importance of touch typing skills. It is typing without looking at the keyboard. I always hope that I can be the touch typing master but until now I still need to look at the keyboard when typing even though the speed much faster.

There are some rules to master touch typing:

•  Firstly sit up straight and make sure your head is parallel with the monitor.Do not sit too high or too low.
• Remember to keep your fingers on the home row. (the home keys is shown on the above picture.Place your left index fingers on alphabet ‘F’ and the right index finger on the alphabet ‘G’.This is the border for the movement of left and right fingers during typing.
• Curve your fingers, wrists up and elbows by your side.
• Finally is you need a lot practice because practice makes perfect.

After that we were asked to answer a set of questionnaires. The purposes of the questionnaires were to know the level of our competency in using the applications and to get information about our usual background such as our name, address and website address.the questionnaires were really useful because it made me realize about the available software and applications that I never used before. 

Then Pn.Foziah asked us to download these two softwares  because they were really useful for our tasks later.

     

a) MOYEA-it can be used to download and arrange web videos from YouTube, Google Video,convert videos, publish videos with player on webpage with sample code,etc

   b)Windows Live Skydrive: can store 25GB 'FREE' online storage.

I feel very amaze with Pn Foziah because she knows a dozen of things related to technology .She is the real savvy –techno person.

At the end of the session , I had gained lots of new things especially the available software or applications that can be used to promote teaching and learning. Finally, we were asked to edit our blog and add our friends so that we can connect and comment each other for improvement.So, that's all for the 2nd week .see you again.

 

First class of PBEY3102.What to expect?

Assalamualaikum and hello to everyone.This blog is specially created for my new subject PBEY 3101:Using & Developing Resources for ESL classroom.The lecturer incharge for this subject is Puan Foziah and she is  very friendly and nice woman.I will be in group 2 and the class is from 10-1pm every Monday.

At first, I felt very worried because there was a schedule clash between the other subject.Finally, with our friend's help and cooperation from Pn.Foziah,I managed to place myself in group 2.Thank you so much for your kindness.For the first week, all of us were having the introduction session where we had an ice-breaking session and the interesting part was when our  lecturer asked us to create a blog for this subject.Blog?I never wrote a blog before and this is just the beginning.So, just feel free to leave any comment.Besides, she asked us to buy 8GB pendrive and install Adobe  Photoshop CS3.I really hope that I can go through this subject well and catch up everything successfully.InsyaAllah.
